However, no characters or worlds actually cross over, making it feel more like inspiration than a traditional crossover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As with many of my favorite fanfics, the story leans heavily into the &#8220;failing upward&#8221; trope. The protagonist is constantly trying to solve practical problems, only for his actions to create unexpected political consequences and increasingly absurd misunderstandings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most interesting aspects is its exploration of Remnant&#8217;s military structure. Rather than changing the world through superior combat skills, the protagonist attempts to improve institutions through regulations, organization, and long-term planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naturally, this leads to plenty of political intrigue, bureaucratic chaos, and some genuinely hilarious situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story spends a significant amount of time before the events of the original RWBY series, allowing the author&#8217;s changes to reshape the world gradually.
