As a result, finding truly good Mega Man fanfiction is surprisingly difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This crossover was a pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than taking place during the classic Mega Man games, the story is set after <em>Mega Man ZX<\/em>, meaning humanity has already endured centuries of conflict against Mavericks and Reploids before eventually rebuilding society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of my favorite aspects of this fanfic is its depiction of that future. Humans and Reploids coexist naturally, and the world feels like a believable continuation of the Mega Man timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The characters are likable, and if you grew up playing the Mega Man games, the story is packed with small references and technologies that will immediately feel familiar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The author also has a lot of fun exploring the wonderfully over-the-top technology that has always been part of the Mega Man universe and imagining how it would compare to Mass Effect&#8217;s technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crossover itself focuses on humanity&#8217;s first contact with the Citadel races. Instead of trying to tell an enormous galactic epic, it presents a compact first-contact story that lets the two universes interact in interesting ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the story is fairly short, it succeeds in creating an enjoyable crossover that feels respectful to both franchises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re both a Mega Man fan and a Mass Effect fan, this is definitely worth reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>FanFiction.net Link<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/m.fanfiction.net\/s\/9751120\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/m.fanfiction.net\/s\/9751120\/1<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Original Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A three-shot story (for now) showing how the First Contact War should have played out when you don&#8217;t want to make either the Turians or humanity into punching bags.
